A brief history of the Zimmermann family, Paul and Ruth with our children Adrian and Nicole:
After each holiday in western Canada, our desire to live here in this beautiful, huge country became stronger and finally in the fall of 1997 it was getting reality! Our suitcases were packed, our belongings had already left Switzerland in a sea-container, and it was time to say goodbye to our loved ones at home. The big adventure had begun. Our Ranch is west of the small town of Bowden in Central Alberta, overlooking the beautiful foothills in the west. There were lots of ups and downs in the years to come, everything was new and there was so much to learn. But it was worth it! We met some great people, some became dear friends through our Llamas and dogs and finally, we felt at home, even if our Swiss accent will always be a part of us!
We invite you to have a look what we are doing:
We have started with a smaller cow-calf operation and of course some horses. In 2000 we added our fist
Llamas. Over the years, we had added some new bloodlines, especially suris, and toady, we are proud to say we have a great selection of beautiful Llamas!
Paul enjoys working with wood.
In wintertime, when the farmwork slows down, he builds
log cabins and log furniture.
Ruth has always loved small animals and with all this space we have here on the Ranch, it seemed just perfect to start breeding dogs. So we decided on the breeds "
Bernese Mountain Dogs"and "
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels". Both breeds are truly unique in their own way, are beautiful in appearance and make perfect family pets.
